Keller, Southlake, Grapevine & Colleyville Argentine Ant Pest Control

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:11 pm by Administrator

Hello again from A.N.T.T.S = A North Texas Termite Specialist Once again its summer here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and we are getting many calls for little black ants (Argentine Ants). Argentine ant control for Keller, Southlake, Grapevine and Colleyville can be one of the toughest treatments we do. The Argentine Ants were brought here back in the 1800’s and they have dominated most native ants here. The colonies are huge and can have thousands of queens with millions of workers to feed, protect and shelter them. This is why you see trails that run the whole length of your foundation and there are a lot more you are not seeing under ground. The best prevention is to seal any crack or crevice around the outside of your home. You can use caulk or any sealant. Another thing you can do to help is use easy to find products such as DE (Diatomaceous Earth) which is swimming pool filter sand. Talcum powder and Boric Acid are some other powders that help deter them. Grandmothers homemade baits work a little also like Boric Acid mixed with honey or jelly. All these thing truly can help but for the best results that we have found is using a professional pest control product like Termidor, Phantom or Demon on the outside and baits inside such as Intice, Maxforce etc. We have had great results with the use of both residuals and baits but there is always the chance we will need to make a return trip to finish the job. Seems like you can never get complete elimination but you can get great pest control with control being the keyword. Speaking of keywords sorry for the over use of them in this blog but it is the only proven way to be found on the internet so we just go with the flow so we can get the good word out to the pest control customers in Keller, Southlake, Grapevine and Colleyville. Sorry did it again, see you next week.

Termites Are Back In Full Force In Dallas/Fort Worth, TX

Posted in termites at 5:54 pm by Administrator

Well back again! Sorry it took so long to post again but termite season here in Dallas/Fort Worth TX has been crazy! It feels like Pre-Termidor days again. Termites seem to be making a full come back this year. We have sen a recent decline in termite swarms in the past and I attribute it to the release of Termidor a fairly new Termiticide that became available to us about 7 years ago and ever since swarm season has been shorter and shorter. I believe the non-repellent manor in which it works has helped termite workers to take it and pass it through the colony by means of transference to show complete colony elimination! This is good news for Dallas/Fort Worth homeowners. This year seems to be different though ? Be it the weather or some resistance being built up they are back with a mission and it’s to break through walls all over the place. We have seen termite swarm calls increase and it’s not due to A.N.T.T.S web presence because our website has been down for weeks now plus our Google local listings were deleted accidentally by Google at the worst possible time for us! This tells me that if we are still slammed with little web exposure then the termite swarms are huge! Most of our leads have come in from referrals and previous customers which is great but we still need that web source. As always we urge you to keep a sharp eye out on all interior walls especially around plumbing areas of your home and watch for what starts out as a pin hole of mud and can get finger size quick. These are what is know as termite swarm castles and can happen anywhere. Also watch those foundation mud tubes as this is the most popular way for termites to enter your home. If you see anything like this you may want to call your local pest control professional or call us A North Texas Termite Specialist = A.N.T.T.S at 817-366-3130 We would be happy to help you out. Have a great summer and stay safe.

Spring Has Sprung In Dallas/Fort Worth Pest Control

Posted in DYI Tips at 4:40 pm by Administrator

Hello again! Looks like another busy pest and termite control season is here for the Dallas and Fort Worth area. We have already had a bunch of calls for those pesky little black ants, carpenter ants and fire ants! here at we have been trying a lot of new environmentally safe pest control products for the ants such as baits, granules and dust with great results. The little black ants (Argentine) have been number one on our hit list they are the toughest little pest we deal with sometimes. Most times what works for us is a good perimeter spray and bait the active areas inside. I have seen these ants travel the whole length of the foundation to enter one little crack so the best advise i can give the customer is to be a detective before we get there and look around your home and see if you can find exactly where they are getting in ? This makes our job a little easier because depending on weather they may not be moving the day we come out. The second best thing you can do is to keep all sugar and food scraps off floor and counter. The more they have to eat from you the less they will be attracted to our free buffet. As usual this time of the year is the best time for preventative medicine! Trim all shrubs, trees etc from touching the home and make sure your gutters are clean. This is also time for termites to get ready for their annual swarm so be on the look out for mud tubes coming up the side of the foundation and inside plumbing walls is where you may see their termite swarm castles (mud coming out of wall ). Any time you can find termites early is a good thing because they can do a lot of damage if they go unnoticed year to year. The spring termite swarm may be the only chance to even know you have them and do something about it. Well once again we hope you all learn a little something about pest control and hope that the world is treating you well ? It seems as though the economy is getting a little better and hopefully we are on the fast track to recovery. Until next time goodbye from A North Texas Termite Specialist = A.N.T.T.S and feel free to call us anytime with questions at 817-366-3130 or visit our website www.antts.biz

Summer Pest Control Dallas/Fort Worth, TX Ants, Roaches & Spiders.

Posted in DYI Tips at 3:47 pm by Administrator

Hello Dallas/Fort Worth, TX! Sorry it has been months since our last post but we have been running around the Metroplex doing so much pest and termite treatments it’s not funny! Along with the ant, carpenter ants, spiders, termites and rodent pest control treatments we have been doing a ton of WDI Termite inspections for FHA & VA loans and refinance. Summer 09 has been great for A.N.T.T.S = A North Texas Termite Specialist. Although the economy is tough, people still need pest & termites controlled. Normally we are here to give tips on helping you do your own pest service, but I have to tell you that this summer even professional exterminators like us have had a tough time with some certain pest like the new Argentine ants that have recently arrived in the DFW area. We have tried many different products on them but they are strong little buggers! We have found that there is one product we can buy at our local pest control company distributor sells that has been knocking them dead. I believe it was the heat and the uncommon rainfall we have had that is keeping the ants coming back so when we treat we are sure to not miss a crack or crevice to insure no call backs. We can tell you to prepare for a heavy flea & tick season due to all the rain and high temps recently. They to are one pest you do not want to try to get rid of on your own with store bought pest control products. Fleas have a long life cycle with eggs, larva and pupa so you need something that will last minimum 60 days. Most products we use should have a 90 day residual and should last long enough to prevent a return trip. There are a few things that can help with success when you have your home treated by a pest pro, vacuum all floors and wash every baseboard plus keep grass cut low, these things make life easy on your pest control technician. Have a great summer Dallas/Fort Worth and we will be back with some fall pest control tips soon! A.N.T.T.S 817-366-3130

Dallas / Fort Worth Termite Swarm Season Is Close.

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:16 pm by Administrator

Hello again from A.N.T.T.S = A North Texas Termite Specialist. We have been a little late in posting due to the rise in homeowner refinances going on in the DFW area. With the bad economy comes tough times for everyone and a quick refinance is a good solution for quick cash and lower payments. Most lenders require a termite inspection during the process which is where we come in. We have been running around the Dallas/Fort Worth area doing a ton of these. The subject of this post is the upcoming termite swarm that will be hitting the DFW area soon. Some termite swarm seasons last months and some only a weekend. The longer they swarm the better for all. You may ask why this would be better for you ? Well if they only swarm 2 days and they are active in your home and you miss the signs of them or they swarm outside or up in your attic and you do not see them they will have a whole year to feast upon your home undetected. The good thing about having a swarm in your home is you know they are there! Now you can get your local pest control guy out to positively identify them and create a treatment plan of action. Now, what are some signs of a termite swarm you may ask ? Well as a termite inspector I can tell you that when we are on the hunt we look low on the outside and high on the inside. Termites (Subterranean) will enter through pipelines and cracks or just tunnel up the side of your foundation and start chewing. When swarm season arrives they will tunnel up to the highest point and start to break through your wall via little pinholes that will have a bit of gritty mud covering it. These pinholes will enlarge over time and turn into what is called a swarm castle. It can almost look like fingers sticking out of your wall. When ready to fly and send out their reproductive swarm they will come out by the thousands and head for light and try to get outside. Sometimes they will fill up a drop ceiling light and never make it out and sometimes they head for a sliding glass door and die on your floor. The areas this will happen are usually around plumbing areas like bathrooms, sinks and water heaters. They will not fly for long so do not dismiss this as a annual bug invasion that happens every spring but they are gone now. They are not gone just because you do not see them anymore, the workers that are totally different in color and wingless are there. The unseen workers are the ones that are eating 24/7 365 days of the year (At least here in the south). Most homes in a high termite prone area will be hit eventually and if left unprotected they can reach any home and do thousands of dollars worth of damage. Just be aware that termites are everywhere and be on the lookout this spring and if you see something that may lead you to believe that you may have termites pick up the phone and call a local licensed pest professional and get a few estimates for treatment if a positive termite report is made. A.N.T.T.S is always willing to spend a few minutes to listen to what you have to say about your termite concerns and sometimes we can identify a termite problem over the phone and sometimes we can make your day and tell you what you are describing is only a fire ant swarm and not the dreaded termite swarm you thought you found. If you would like more info on this subject or would like to set up a visit from us call 817-366-3130 or visit us at Thanks for your time we wish you a great year in these tough times! Dallas / Fort Worth Winter Pest And Termite Control

Posted in termites at 4:01 pm by Administrator

Hello from A.N.T.T.S = A North Texas Termite Specialist. Just a quick note to wish all of our Dallas and Fort Worth, TX pest control customers Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope that the economy dose not have it’s claws into your families wallet like it does most. We are keeping hopes up around here that things will turn around soon. There are a few things for A.N.T.T.S to be thankful for this year. One big thing is the rise in refinance loans being done. We work closely with Texas Lending and they have been great to us this year. Just about every FHA loan requires a termite inspection which is not a bad thing for the buyer to have done. How many times does the average homeowner inspect his home for termites, the answer is none. So when we go out to a home there is a good chance we will find termites, conducive conditions or carpenter ants and it’s only a matter of time before these wood destroying insects reap havoc on a home. There are a few things you as a borrower can do to help your chances on getting a clear termite report. First of all remove that firewood pile from next to your foundation and secondly trim those trees of the roof. These are the biggest reasons for a bad termite report. Other things like wood to ground contact, form boards left in place are conditions created by the builder that need mechanical removal or treatment. We find that most conducive termite conditions are created by the homeowner and can be easily corrected. If times are tough and you find that a refinance will help you get though until the economy picks up give us a call 817-366-3130 and we can talk you through preparing for a WDI Termite Inspection. or visit us at and we will be happy to help you out. Merry Christmas to all and have a safe New Year! A.N.T.T.S

Dallas / Fort Worth, TX Fire Ant & Rodent Pest Control Prevention For Winter.

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:24 pm by Administrator

Hello again from A.N.T.T.S = A North Texas Termite Specialist. Just a quick note about the increase in fire ant and rodent calls in the Dallas and Fort Worth area. Do not be alarmed this is quite normal for this time of the year. Every fall and winter when the mercury drops these little critters start to invade your home. You can try you own home pest control but in most cases this is a time to call in a pro. We professional pest control operators have access to long residual products that will insure the protection of your family from these invaders. What we do is concentrate on cracks and pipelines along with any other entry point. We soak these areas and inspect for further openings that need attention. Inside we use a pretty much odorless product that is applied to the baseboards and under sinks to get any insects that may have made it in. After this is just a waiting game. People sometimes think we are Pide Pipers and the bugs will follow us out the door. It does take a few days and sometimes up to 21 days but you should see a big difference in a short time. Most companies such as us we do not charge for call backs during your warranty period. I would also like to introduce our new mascot at A North Texas Termite Specialist, Bugzy! He can be seen and heard at both of our websites www.antts.biz and www.anttstermitecontrol.com. Well until next time, aloha!

Dallas / Fort Worth Termite Inspections For Refinance of Your Home.

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:49 pm by Administrator

Hello again from A.N.T.T.S = A North Texas Termite Specialist. When buying a new home in the Dallas area or just about anywhere in the US the mortgage companies usually require a clear WDI report (termite inspection). These inspections have been on the downside lately due to a struggling economy. What we have seen is a rise in refinance termite inspections! The lenders consider them almost like a new home purchase and require a WDI. This is great for us but can be a pain for the homeowner because we still have to write up conducive conditions and obviously we have to write up and active or prior termite and carpenter ant activity found including any other wood destroying insect. This can be a expensive drawback to the refinance procedure. A.N.T.T.S has had a increase in business due to these new changes in our economy and for this we are thankful but our hearts go out to those who are in trouble. What we have done to help ease the pain on some of these termite finds is allow them to pay us for a treatment when they close on the deal. This lets the people who need that refinance money get it quick then worry about payment later. We have done this on quite a few homes here in Dallas / Fort Worth and have not had any problems collecting our money on full termite treatments. We also take into consideration when inspecting a home that someone already lives in is that there are somethings you can just tell them to do while we are there such as trimming foliage, moving wood piles etc. There is no need to tie up a closing when the conducive condition can be easily corrected at the time of the inspection. So we have made a few changes to help people out in these hard times but we always feel it will come back to us in the long run as it always does. At we live by “what goes around comes around). So keep a few of these ideas in your back pocket if you need to have a termite inspection for you refinance and it will save you time and money in these tough times. Good luck and we hope that brighter days are close for everyone!

Dallas / Fort Worth Pest & Termite Control Tips for Fall Clean Up.

Posted in DYI Tips at 4:10 pm by Administrator

Hello again from A North Texas Termite Specialist = A.N.T.T.S! We would like to talk about pest control tips for fall clean up around your home. About this time every year we get calls from Dallas / Fort Worth area residents that have a abundance of pest and rodent activity around their home due to the removal of clutter from the yard and garage. These cluttered areas are a great hide out for mice, rats and roaches. Stored wood against the house can also attract termites. We are happy to see you removing the clutter, but would like to help you protect your home at the same time of this clean up. First thing you want to do is wear gloves and a dust mask! This is very important when dealing with rodent droppings due to the diseases they carry and the dust particles in the air can get into your lungs and cause a variety of problems, some deadly! While moving clutter you may see rodents running away from the pile and towards your home, this is why you should purchase some good snap traps and glue boards and place them along the side of the wall. Rodents are pretty blind and use whiskers to run the sides of walls and will run right into your trap. Another good thing to do before you start your project is to buy some Ortho Boric Acid and dust the cracks and crevices including pipe lines so when the water bugs (American Roach) try to enter your home they will track trough the dust and it will kill them later on. Be sure to use the Boric acid lightly so they will not avoid it and run right through it. Lastly after you have removed all clutter from the side of your home you should maybe consider hiring a professional pest control company like A.N.T.T.S to put down a long residual pesticide that will ensure nothing left over from that debri pile will live long enough to enter you home. Hope this is helpful for you Dallas / Fort Worth Residents. If you ever have a pest control question that needs attention feel free to give us a call at 817-366-3130 A.N.T.T.S = A North Texas Termite Specialist.
